Matthew 16:28, Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”
We know those who will be raptured will not experience death at all. This can't be talking about the return of Jesus in the rapture, because it says they won't taste death until they see it.
Kingdom, in Greek (Strong's # G932) also means royal power and dominion. Many believe this prophecy was fulfilled a week later at the transfiguration, when Peter, James, and John saw the appearance of Jesus change. Luke 9:29 says Jesus' face was altered. The disciples got a glimpse of the glorified Jesus. The one who will return as the King of kings in Revelation.
Matthew 17:2, And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.
Psalm 104:2, covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent.
Not only did three of the disciples get a glimpse of the glorified Jesus in all his royal splendor at the transfiguration, but we know Jesus gave his disciple John a detailed vision of the end times. John saw the rapture, the tribulation, the return of the glorified Jesus, along with the set-up of his kingdom on earth. John is the one who saw the vision and wrote the book of revelation. Other disciples may have had visions from God, but John is the one who recorded it all.
Habakkuk 2:3, For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.
