Summary - Climate Change

Noah’s flood wasn’t due to climate change, it was due to sin on the earth (Genesis 6:5). Ask Adam and Eve how their environment changed after they sinned (Genesis 3:17-18, Genesis 2:7, Romans 6:23). The sins of Sodom and Gomorrah caused the city to be destroyed by a volcano (Genesis 18:20). The sun will scorch the earth in the tribulation, it's not because God is punishing us for damaging his earth, it's because people refuse to repent of their sins (Revelation 16:8-9).

When God allows natural disasters, it’s for a greater purpose such as.

  • To protect his people from danger (Zech 12:9, Ezekiel 38:18-19, Rev 12:16)
  • Small enough to discipline those that he loves (Hebrews 12:6).
  • To bring about repentance and salvation (Genesis 50:20, Psalm 119:67)
  • To judge the wicked (Psalm 110:6).

1 Corinthians 11:32, But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world.

When the devil uses natural disasters, it's for destruction.
  • The devil is angry (Revelation 12:12).
  • The devil wants to destroy Israel (Revelation 12:16).
John 10:10, The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy

When God is rejected by man, he will move his hand of protection from that area. This gives the devil an open door to cause destruction and death.

Here is a list of Bible verses that describe sin and its relationship to nature. Deuteronomy 11:16-17, Amos 4:6-9, Hosea 4:1-3, 2 Chronicles 7:14, Nahum 1:3-6.
