Climate Change

Noah’s flood was not due to climate change it was due to sin on the earth. Ask Adam and Eve how their environment changed after they sinned. The sun will scorch the earth in the tribulation but it’s because people refuse to repent of their sins.  Here is a list of Bible verses that talk about the correlation between sin and the environment.

Revelation 16:8-9, The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him

Deuteronomy11:16-17, Take care lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them; then the anger of the LORD will be kindled against you, and he will shut up the heavens, so that there will be no rain, and the land will yield no fruit, and you will perish quickly off the good land that the LORD is giving you.

Amos 4:6-9, “I gave you empty stomachs in every city and lack of bread in every town, yet you have not returned to me,” declares the Lord. 7“I also withheld rain from you when the harvest was still three months away. I sent rain on one town, but withheld it from another. One field had rain; another had none and dried up.  People staggered from town to town for water but did not get enough to drink, yet you have not returned to me,” declares the Lord. 9“Many times I struck your gardens and vineyards, destroying them with blight and mildew. Locusts devoured your fig and olive trees, yet you have not returned to me,”

Hosea 4:1-3, Hear the word of the LORD, O children of Israel, for the LORD has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land. There is no faithfulness or steadfast love, and no knowledge of God in the land; 2there is swearing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. Therefore the land mourns, and all who dwell in it languish, and also the beasts of the field and the birds of the heavens, and even the fish of the sea are taken away.

2 Chronicles 7:14, if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Nahum 1:3-5, The Lord is slow to anger but great in power; the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of his feet. He rebukes the sea and dries it up; he makes all the rivers run dry. Bashan and Carmel wither and the blossoms of Lebanon fade. 5The mountains quake before him and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, the world and all who live in it.

Genesis 8:22, "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease."

Thanks for this post. I did a self study on this subject a couple of months ago and started collecting verses. If you don't mind I'll share them with you. 

Ecology/Environment/Sin impacts ALL LIVING things. Sin harms and changes no only ourselves but the land, the animals, the birds and the fish. 

Genesis 3:17-19 Ground is cursed because of Adam’s sin resulting in thorns and thistles 

Genesis 4:8-12 Cain is cursed after he kills Abel and the blood stained ground cries out to God, and for Cain the ground will no longer yield its crops. 

Deuteronomy 11:8-17 Land bounty is conditional on their obedience to God or He will shut up the heavens so that it will not rain and the ground will yield no produce, and you will soon perish from the good land. 

Deuteronomy 21:22-23 Cursed is the man hanged on a tree, Do not defile the land 

Deuteronomy 24:4 Divorce and land 

Deuteronomy 29:23, 27 Nothing growing because Israel broke their covenant 

Deuteronomy 30:19 Heaven and earth called as witnesses 

Deuteronomy 31:28 heavens and the earth to testify against them 

Numbers 35:33-34 Spilling of blood of another human pollutes the land

Leviticus 25:2 Land shall keep a Sabbath to the Lord 

Leviticus 26:34 & 43 Then the land shall enjoy its Sabbaths all the days it lies desolate, while you are in the land of your enemies. At that time the land will rest and enjoy its Sabbaths. 35As long as it lies desolate, the land will have the rest it did not receive during the Sabbaths when you lived in it. 43For the land will be abandoned by them, and it will enjoy its Sabbaths by lying desolate without them. And they will pay the penalty for their iniquity, because they rejected My ordinances and abhorred My statutes. 

Leviticus 27:30 Thus any tithe from the land, whether from the seed of the land or the fruit of the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD. 

I Kings 8:35 "When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and give praise to your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them,

Romans 8:18-23 the whole creation has been groaning.  All creation was designed to worship God! He designed it with one thing in mind: Worship. All creation was designed to worship and agonizes when it cannot fulfill its purpose. 

Isaiah 55:12 You will indeed go out with joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.13Instead of the thornbush, a cypress will grow, and instead of the brier, a myrtle will spring up; they will make a name for the LORD, an everlasting sign, never to be destroyed.” 

Isaiah 44:23 Sing for joy, you heavens, for the LORD has done this; shout aloud, you earth beneath. Burst into song, you mountains, you forests and all your trees, for the LORD has redeemed Jacob, he displays his glory in Israel. 

Psalm 96:11-12 11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; Let the sea roar, and all it contains; 12Let the field exult, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy

Jeremiah 23:10 The land is full of adulterers; because of the curse the land lies parched and the pastures in the wilderness are withered. The prophets follow an evil course and use their power unjustly.

Isaiah 24:5-6 The earth is also polluted by its inhabitants, for they transgressed laws, violated statutes, broke the everlasting covenant. 6Therefore, a curse devours the earth, and those who live in it are held guilty. Therefore, the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men are left.
