Pope - Church and Forgiveness

SEPTEMBER 1, 2015
“Pope Francis shocked many this month when he announced that priests will be authorized to forgive the "sin of abortion" when the church begins a "Year of Mercy" on December 8.”
The church or the priest does not have the ability to forgive anyone.  Only God can forgive sins.  If you ask a priest and he forgives your sins and you never asked God, those sins remain and your destiny is not Heaven.

John 5:40.  Yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.

Your salvation is between you and God and not you and the priest.  You come boldly before the throne of God yourself.
Hebrews 4:16.  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Psalm 146 3-5.  Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.  Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God,

Psalm 118:8.  It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
