9. “Don't proselytize; respect others'
beliefs. We can inspire others through
witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious
proselytism, which paralyzes: I am
talking with you in order to persuade you.
No, each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not
proselytizing.”
Definition of proselytize: to try to persuade people to join a religion,
cause, or group. Let’s see what the Bible says about preaching
the gospel to others.
1 Corinthians 9:16. For if I preach the
gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting.
For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!
Mark 16:15-16. And he said to them,
“Go into all the world and
proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized
will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. “
2 Timothy 4:5. As for you, always be
sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

The Pope - “Proselytism is solemn nonsense, it makes
no sense.”
This is a responsibility that he has neglected. When he knows people are going to hell
because they believe in the wrong thing and he has the opportunity to warn them
about that and he doesn’t. This is what
the Bible says: Ezekiel 3:17-19. “Son of man, I have

Holiness, is there is a single vision of the Good? And who decides what it is?”
Pope - “Each of us has a vision of good and of evil. We have to encourage people to move towards what they think is Good.” God gave us the 10 Comandments because if left up to us, we would choose the bad. We needed help and guidence, so God wrote it down for us.

Holiness, you wrote that in your letter to me. The conscience is autonomous, you said, “everyone must obey his conscience.” I think that's one of the most courageous
steps taken by a Pope.”
Pope - “And I repeat it here. Everyone has his own idea of good and evil and must choose to follow the good and fight evil as he conceives them. That would be enough to make the world a better place.” The Muslims believe that it is good to kill all infidels. This would be a bad thing for the world if we choose to follow their way of conscience.

Pope - “It is love of others, as our Lord preached. It is not proselytizing, it is love. Love for one's neighbor, that leavening that serves the common good.” It is for our love of humanity that we spread the word of God so they do not go to hell.

men.” He came so that we may be saved.

John 8:44. You
are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s
desires. He was a murderer from the
beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in
him. When he lies, he speaks out of his
own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Mr. Scalfari - “Your
Holiness, you said that you have no intention of trying to convert me and I do
not think you would succeed.”
Pope - “We cannot know
that, but I don't have any such intention.” Sad! This man is still in his sins and on his way
to a destination that will horrify him. Jesus
had the love and compassion for Mr. Scalfari not to be put through a horrific
death so he would not have to go to hell and the Pope, who should have the
words of eternal life coming from his mouth, has no intention of at least
trying to save this man.
