Pope - Speaking of Jesus

FEBRUARY 15, 2016
Pope Francis meets with children who wrote letters for a new book.
When asked about his love for Jesus, Pope Francis said, “I do not know if I truly love Jesus.  I try to love him, but I am sure that He loves me.  I’m quite certain of this.”
It is with the heart that a person believes unto salvation.
Matthew 22:37-28.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.
1 Corinthians 8:3.  But if anyone loves God, he is known by God.
Deuteronomy 30:6.  And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring, so that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.
Romans 10:10.  For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Proverbs 8:17.  I love those who love me and those who seek me diligently find me.
I just don’t know how you can reconcile these verses and think this man is saved.
Matthew 7: 21-23.  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name have cast out devils, and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you:  depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
The people Jesus is speaking to in this are professing Christians.  They are calling him Lord and have used the name of Jesus, but Jesus never knew them.  They were doing good works to get into heaven, but did not have that loving, personal relationship with him.

Pope Francis described as "dangerous" the temptation to believe that one can have "a personal, direct, immediate relationship with Jesus Christ without communion with and the mediation of the church.”
It is NOT dangerous to have a relationship with Jesus without the church.  Many churches in these last days have steered away from the teachings of the Bible and that is dangerous.  The best part of Christianity is that personal relationship with the Lord!!!!  You really need that to have salvation.
1 John 5:12.  Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
A church can help you achieve a more mature relationship with the Lord but you have to make sure you are in a church that sticks with the Biblical teachings.  A good church will have like minded people who will encourage and lift you up when you need it.
Hebrews 10:25.  Not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
You can see from Matthew 7:21-23, included above, it is dangerous not to have that direct relationship.  It feels to me like the Pope is putting the church between a person and their relationship with God.
Let’s think of it this way.  Consider a famous person.  The average person knows who they are. They may even study their life.  They may know them so well they can write a book about them.  But, unless they know that famous person through a personal relationship, that famous person would never invite them into their home because they are a stranger.

Ephesians 2:19So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,

There is a difference between head knowledge of Jesus and a relationship with Him.  Lots of people have Jesus in their head, but not their heart.  They think yeah, that guy Jesus came to save me and I believe he existed and rose from the dead, so I am good.  I will live my life as I please.  That is not love and there is no heart in that thinking. Romans 10:10.  For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.  How do you come to love someone?  You develop a relationship through communicating with them.  The same is true with our Father God and Jesus.  You read their letters to us by reading the Bible.  You talk with them through prayer.  You get to know them and their heart and your love for them blooms.

The Pope asked people to join him in praying that they would never "give into the temptation of thinking you can do without others, without the church, that you can save yourself, of thinking you can be a laboratory Christian."
You can not save yourself; Jesus saved us through the cross.  NOT through the church, NOT through works, NOT through communion, NOT through Mary, but through faith in Jesus ONLY!

1 Timothy 2:5For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

Amos 5:4For thus says the Lord to the house of IsraelSeek me and live;”

Nope, no Bible verse saying seek the church and live.  Not one!
Psalm 14:2.  The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.
Psalm 145:18-19.  The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.  He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry and will save them.
Him and He in this verse is God.  It is capitalized which shows Deity. Him is not the church.
Lamentations 3:25.  The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him.
Yup, still nothing about seeking him through saints or the church.  It is speaking about those who seek him directly.  One on one!
Psalm 63:1.  O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Give it a try.  Jesus is anxiously waiting for you to seek him directly!  If you are not sure how to obtain salvation, check out my Salvation Explained article.  http://riseandshinelightoftheworld.blogspot.com/p/salvation-explained.html

“If at times our efforts and works seem to fail and produce no fruit, we need to remember that we are followers of Jesus.”
If we stay grafted in, fruit will come.
John 15:5.  I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:2.  Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
“And his life, humanly speaking, ended in failure, the failure of the cross.”
I wonder what part Jesus failed at.
1 Corinthians 1:18.  For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Galatians 6:14.  But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
It is a vast misunderstanding of Jesus’ life to consider it a failure… humanly speaking or any other way.

Nairobi, Kenya, “When you don’t understand something, when desperation hits you then look at the cross.  That is the great failure of God, that is the destruction of God, and it’s a challenge to our faith.  And this is hope, because history did not end in that failure.  Rather it’s in the resurrection of Christ that renewed all of us.  I am going to tell you something personal.  It’s 12 (o’clock) are you hungry?  I am going to tell you something private.  In my pocket I always carry two things:  a rosary to pray something which seems odd, this is here is the history of God’s failure, it’s the way of the cross, a small way of the cross, as Jesus suffered and when they condemned him right up to where he was buried with these two things I do the best I can.
Again, he is speaking about the failure of God and the cross.  It was God’s Divine plan, not a failure.  So it was not an accident.  He is also saying there is a history of God’s failure.  I would like to know the list of things he thinks God failed at.  This man is not lead by the Spirit of God, but a spirit that comes from the world.  God does not fail!
1 Corinthians 2:12.  Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.
The Pope does not have an understanding of God.

“Instead of returning home with his family, he stayed in Jerusalem, in the Temple, causing great distress to Mary and Joseph who were unable to find him.  For this little “escapade”, Jesus probably had to beg forgiveness of his parents.  The Gospel doesn’t say this, but I believe that we can presume it. Mary’s question, moreover, contains a certain reproach, revealing the concern and anguish which she and Joseph felt.
The Pope by that statement does not believe Jesus is the sinless Lamb of God.  His parents left him in Jerusalem not realizing he was not with them when they traveled home (Luke 2:44).  If anything his parents should ask him for forgiveness.

“I pray the breviary every morning.  I like to pray with the psalms.  Then, later, I celebrate Mass.  I pray the Rosary.  What I really prefer is adoration in the evening, even when I get distracted and think of other things, or even fall asleep praying.  In the evening then, between seven and eight o’clock, I stay in front of the Blessed Sacrament for an hour in adoration.  But I pray mentally even when I am waiting at the dentist or at other times of the day.”
What I believe the Pope is saying is that in the evening for an hour or so he adores the bread and wine used in communion.  I know the Catholic Church believes the bread and wine actually transform into the body and blood of Jesus.  I highly disagree.  He was sacrificed once for all.  It is not a continual sacrifice.  What the Pope is doing is adoring objects that are not God.  There is a word for that and it is idolatry.  He should never kneel down to a statue or pray to anyone who has died.  (Praying to the dead is forbidden and bowing down to statues of Mary or anyone else is also forbidden.)  I know these are the practices of the Catholic Church in general, but I think it is important to say.  Only God can hear your prayers.  Mary is not omnipresent like God.  She is not able to hear your prayers.  When you speak to the dead or go to a psychic, it is not the dead who speak, but demons who know things about you that will speak to the medium/psychic.  This causes the hearer to believe they are actually hearing from their deceased family member.  God says stay far away from them.  You are playing with fire (demons)!
Deuteronomy18:11-12.  There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord.  And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.
Leviticus 26:1.  “You shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the LORD your God.

“It calls us to go out into the world to proclaim that Jesus "became the sinner" to reconcile men with the Father.”  These were Pope Francis’ words during his homily at Mass Saturday at the Casa Santa Martha.
“True reconciliation means that God in Christ took on our sins and He became the sinner for us. “
Saying this he brought Jesus down to being a sinner who is indwelt by the Holy Spirit.  Jesus was the sacrificial lamb for our sins.  He was not a sinner.

“When we go to confession, for example, it isn’t that we say our sin and God forgives us.  No, not that!”
That is all you need to do, if you go to God directly!  Telling another person will not get you God’s forgiveness.  You sin against God anytime you do something bad so you need to turn from those sins and ask God to forgive you.  It is not the Priest’s law you are breaking, it is God’s.  What if I went up to Fred and punched him in the belly, and then walk down the street to Jim, and ask Jim to forgive me for punching Fred.  Do you think Fred would forgive me for punching him because I asked Jim to forgive me?  This is what people are doing when they confess their sins to a Priest and are requesting forgiveness.
1 John 1:19.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Psalm 32:5“I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

“We look for Jesus Christ and say:  “This is your sin, and I will sin again'.  And Jesus likes that.”
Really, you think Jesus likes that?  What kind of mindset is that?  Jesus did not sin.  He hates sin.
1 Peter 1:16.  Because it is written, be ye holy; for I am holy.
Romans 6:1-2.  What shall we say then?  Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?  By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?

“Because it was his mission:  to become the sinner for us, to liberate us."
Again the Pope made Jesus a sinner.  Jesus was not a sinner.  He took on the world’s sin and died in our place for our sins.  I feel there is a big difference in that.

Christ became sin for me!  And my sins are there in his body, in his soul!  It's crazy, but it's beautiful, it's true!”
Our sins are not in his soul!!!  His soul is Holy.  His body bore our sins, but his soul did not become sin.
1 Peter 2:24.  He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.  By his wounds you have been healed.

“This is the scandal of the Cross!”
What does he mean by saying scandal?  Is he referring to Jesus as a sinner?  Not so!
Definition of scandalan occurrence in which people are shocked and upset because of behavior that is morally or legally wrong, something that is unacceptable.

Which spirit is he speaking from because it is not the Holy Spirit?
