The Antichrist will have a
government that will reach throughout the world. There is a false religious system in the last
days that will also reach throughout the world.
The Bible refers to this as Mystery Babylon. The historical Babylon was a city full of
pride and idolatry and therefore the name Babylon was used when describing this
future Church. This religious system is
called the Harlot. There are two
different women described. One is the
Bride and one is the Harlot. The Bride
has given her heart to God. The Harlot
has left her first love and has had affairs.
The
Bible describes someone who goes after other gods as a harlot. Hosea 4:12 My people consult their wooden idol, and their diviner's wand informs them; For a spirit of harlotry has led them astray, and they have played the harlot, departing from their God. We can also see this reference in Jeremiah 3:6-9
The Bride is someone who has kept herself only for
her husband.
2 Corinthians 11:2 For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.Here are some comparisons between the Bride in Revelation 21 and the Harlot in Revelation 17.
BRIDE
- Angel carried John away to a city on a great and high mountain.
HARLOT
- Angel carried john into a wilderness to a city with 7 mountains.
BRIDE
– Bride’s city is the New Jerusalem.
HARLOT
– Harlot’s city is Mystery Babylon.
BRIDE
– Names write on the Bride were the 12 tribes of Israel.
HARLOT
- Name written on the Harlot were Babylon the great, mother of harlots, the
abominations of the earth.
BRIDE
– Her stones were jasper, clear as crystal.
HARLOT
- Her stones gold and pearls.
BRIDE
– Her clothes are described in Rev 19:8 as
white and clean (white being the righteousness of the saints).
HARLOT
- Her clothes are described in Isaiah 1:18 as purple & scarlet (scarlet being sins).
BRIDE
– She is clean.
HARLOT
– She is holding a cup of filthiness.
Revelation 17 says she is the mother of harlots. Which means this church has given birth to other churches.
I am not 100%,
sure, but I believe Mystery Babylon is a Christian church that has allowed false
doctrines and embraced other religions. You can only commit adultery if you are married. We can see in scripture that Israel was the wife of God and the church is betrothed to Jesus. To view the church as a woman is aligned with scripture. I wrote an article that shows both Israel and the Church described as God's wife. Click Here to read it. I believe God is viewing this particular church (Mystery Babylon) as committing adultery on
him because the church has embraced other gods. Revelation 17:2 With her the kings of the earth committed adultery, and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.”
In Revelation 2 Jesus is telling John to write a letter to the church in Thyatira. This Christian church sounds a lot like Mystery Babylon. There are good people in this church but they are warned to repent or they will be thrown into the tribulation. Verse 20-22 But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works.Mystery Babylon will start to persecute Christians. It's possible that the False Prophet may be the one who is the leader of this church. He will start commanding that people worship the Antichrist and will kill those who don’t. Revelation 17:6 speaking of Mystery Babylon it says. And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.
Revelation 17:16 is talking about how the Kings from all over
love the Harlot but the 10 kings or rulers that are appointed in the middle
east will hate the Harlot and will destroy her.
In
Revelation 18:4 God is
warning people to come out, of this Church.
Revelation 18:10 & 11 mentions that the Mystery Babylon (The city headquarters
for this church) will be destroyed in one hour causing the earth will mourn over
her.
Revelation 18:23 refers to the Bridegroom and Bride which is
Jesus and his Church will no longer be heard in this false religion again. This is another reason I believe Mystery
Babylon is a Christian church. For them
to be heard no more in them, means at one point that Jesus and his church were.
If you are in a
church that is teaching something contrary to the word of God or does not have
Jesus as its first love, you should leave that church. In Revelation 3:20 Jesus is outside of he church knocking on the door trying
to get in.
